Restroom Crisis Dealt With

The restrooms at the Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park–North Unit were closed for several days at the end of July. Accumulated trash flushed down the restroom toilets over time had severely compacted in the pipes, causing a sewage backup and flooding.

Madison Parks maintenance staff discovered the problem but needed to bring in a septic system contractor to clear the pipes and pump out the septic tank. Facilities have now re-opened after the restroom crisis.

The Friends board has requested that Madison Parks provide trash bins within each bathroom stall, in addition to the large ones near the sinks, to forestall similar problems in the future.
