Former Cornfield, Future Prairie

A wild turkey forages in a former cornfield, as green shoots of prairie grasses and forbs are emerging.

Former cornfield, future prairie! The field along the north side of Wheeler Rd between N. Sherman and Hwy CV was sown with prairie seed last fall by Madison Parks conservation staff. This is part of the Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park and will soon begin to look like it belongs.
