About the event

Enjoy an all-ages Spring nature walk. Join expert birder Chuck Henrikson to look and listen for Spring birds.


Bird & Nature Adventures are free, volunteer-led, rain-or-shine events for all ages to learn about nature. No registration is required; all are welcome. Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and the outing. Binoculars and cameras are welcome. Pets are not allowed in the conservation park. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.


Mostly level. Mown/plowed paths, gravel trails, and metal boardwalks. Trails may be muddy.


These free, all-ages walks take place the first Sunday of EVERY month, year-round, ALWAYS 1:30 pm – 3 pm. Follow N. Sherman Avenue north to the upper parking area at the end of the gravel road.

Note: the June 7, 2026, event will be a paddling adventure leaving from the Cherokee Marsh South Unit boat launch.

Cherokee Marsh is the largest wetland in Dane County, Wisconsin. The marsh is located just upstream from Lake Mendota, along the Yahara River and Token Creek.
