About the event

The newest prairie restoration at Cherokee Marsh is just north of Wheeler Road between HWY CV and the golf driving range.

While the plantings are establishing well, the Madison Parks conservation team has asked for our help removing invasive thistles that have appeared in the prairie. This work party is an opportunity to experience the new prairie, which doesn't yet have public trails or access.

We'll use hand tools to slice the roots of the thistles. No experience needed. Training provided. We'll show how to identify the target plants.

Bring drinking water. We'll provide tools and work gloves, or bring your own.

This activity involves walking off trail in a prairie planting. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Long pants and long-sleeved shirt recommended. Be prepared for bugs.
