About the event
Did you know that more than 70% of birds in Wisconsin would be unable to feed their babies without the help of oak trees? Or that the tannins in oak leaves are the key to protecting amphibians and insects in oak woodlands? Based on the research of Dr. Doug Tallamy, this talk and walk will tell you why. And, if you have a chance to plant a tree at home, let it be an oak!
Meet at the Cherokee Marsh North Unit parking lot area. Restrooms are available at the park. Dress for the weather. Free, welcoming, educational. No registration required. No pets. Kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Trails are gravel or grass but may be muddy or snow-covered.
Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance, Wild Ones, Four Lakes Sierra Club, and Friends of Cherokee Marsh.
