About the event

We'll begin with a business meeting to review 2024, look forward to 2025, and elect directors for 2025-2026. 


Paul Quinlan from Madison Parks and Claire Lamberg from Dane County Parks will update us on news, happenings, and opportunities in Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park and county properties at Cherokee Marsh.. 


Our special guest presenter will be Lisie Kitchel, Conservation Biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and expert on Wisconsin's native mussels. Kitchel has been working with mussels since the 1970s and has an encyclopedic knowledge of them. She'll tell us about Wisconsin’s diverse yet hidden treasure—the freshwater mussel/clam. Learn all about our state’s 50 native species, their fascinating life cycle, relationship with fish, and amazing contributions to the history of Wisconsin, from food to buttons to pearls.
