Boardwalk update

The installers are beginning to put in aluminum boardwalk to replace the removed wooden boardwalk along the Yahara River in the North Unit. Photos taken July 20. Installation is not complete!

This view is facing upstream from "hickory island." On the right is a gathering area for use by school groups and others. When complete, the boardwalk will have a 2-inch raised lip for safety.

This view is further along, overlooking the river, again facing upstream. The connectors between sections haven't been placed yet.

Another boardwalk will replace the section across the bay with the viewing platform. The two boardwalks will remain separate to prevent damage to the wetland between.
